It was quite possibly the most Canadian thing that’s ever happened.
Celebrated author Margaret Atwood was one of the keynote speakers at The Royal Canadian Geographical Society’s 2015 Fellows Dinner on Wednesday, November 18th. To illustrate an anecdote about how she explains Canada’s vastness to outsiders, Atwood sang The Arrogant Worms’ inspired hit song “Canada’s Really Big” — in both official languages.
The clip above features an excerpt from Atwood’s speech, which touched on everything from Canada’s human geography to the culinary pitfalls of book tours. However, if you’d just like to hear the singing, skip to the 2:01 mark.
