At Canadian Geographic, we believe there are an infinite number of stories to be told with maps, so we were excited to learn that mapping was the theme of Geography Awareness Week 2015.
To challenge our own geographic storytelling skills, each of the editors of CanGeo was given a blank map of Canada and asked to draw something. Here's what we came up with.
Aaron Kylie, Editor
Canada (The Great White North) by city nickname.
Harry Wilson, Senior Editor
Best dad ever.
Nick Walker, Managing Editor
We'd love to hear the stories that inspired these place names.
Michela Rosano, Associate Editor
Did you know Canada had so many Nobel laureates?
Sabrina Doyle, New Media Editor
"There are a surprising number of places in Canada that are named after edible things. As a proud food enthusiast, I decided to pick a few of my favourites," says CanGeo New Media Editor Sabrina Doyle.
Alexandra Pope, Social Media Editor
"I've been lucky enough to visit all 10 of Canada's provinces and live in four of them. Most of my best memories of this country involve a crazy weather event," says CanGeo Social Media Editor Alexandra Pope.
Sara Black, Education Program Coordinator
