Nothing sets social media a-twitter like a special day of recognition for a cause, and National Bird Day, observed January 5th, was no exception.

Technically, National Bird Day is an American initiative, started 14 years ago by animal advocacy group Born Free USA to raise awareness about threatened bird species. But, since birds are kind of our thing here at Canadian Geographic, we decided it would be alright if Canadians joined in on the bird love as well.
