The meanings of the name Ukkusiksalik, and the names and meanings of some of the places in the area surrounding it:

Ukkusiksalik Park: The newest of Canada's National parks, Ukkusiksalik means "the place where there is stone that can be used to carve pots and oil lamps."

Sirmilik Park: Sirmilik encompasses three environments on Baffin Island — Bylot Island, Borden Peninsula, and Oliver Sound. Sirmilik means "place of glaciers."

Auyuittuq Park: Auyuittuq was established in 1976 and was the world's first park above Arctic Circle. It means "land that never melts."
