Black magic

Iam crouching atop a windblown, ice-covered bluff just outside Whitehorse. It is the middle of January, and for the past 10 hours, I have been subjecting my body and cameras to the Yukon cold and an interminable wind. There is no feeling in my fingers and toes. What in the world am I doing here?

A sequence of small black shapes glides over me, providing the answer. Ravens.
