Founded in 1983 during the Ethiopian drought, Canadian Physicians for Aid and Relief provides medical and food aid, and natural-resource management to Ethiopia, Uganda, Malawi and Tanzania. The group has an almost wholly African staff in its 250 field offices and focuses on long-term development projects rather than emergency relief.
