On June 2, enjoy an expansive view of the Lake Ontario waterfront
as Toronto’s Liberty Grand hosts the annual Canadian Environment
Awards Gala.
That night, we’ll celebrate our environmental champions for
2008, including 18 Gold and Silver Community Awards recipients,
the Grand Prize winners of The Green Team Challenge and photographer
Edward Burtynsky, this year’s Ideas for Life™ Award
winner. The Citation of Lifetime Achievement will be presented to
Maude Barlow, national chair of The Council of Canadians and co-founder
of the Blue Planet Project, who will also deliver the evening’s
keynote address.
|
Once again, Canada Post has generously designed and produced the
prize plaques that will be presented to all Canadian
Environment Awards winners. The plaques feature artwork from Canada Post’s
ongoing series of wildlife stamps. This year’s plaque showcases
icons of the Canadian wilderness from 2005 stamp releases: the peregrine
falcon, the Sable Island horse, the white-tailed deer and the Atlantic
walrus.
