Polar bears out in the cold as sea ice crumbles

Canadian Wildlife Service's Ian Stirling reports that global warming is altering ice formation in the Beaufort Sea, resulting in the creation of secure hiding places for ringed seals. Without access to their primary diet, polar bears are resorting to cannibalism and relocation, says Stirling, citing the arrival of a mother bear and her two cubs in Déline, NWT, last week, some 400 kilometres south of their usual habitat.
