Feeling the itch to go camping? Parks Canada is here to help.
Thirty-four National Heritage Sites and parks are welcoming the Olympic flame as it travels across Canada, and in honour of this relay, are opening their sites for free. Though this only happens on days when the flame is actually in the park or heritage site, it's still a great opportunity to get outdoors.
“By granting free access to our national parks and national historic sites, Canadians will be able to get involved in community celebrations,” says Jim Prentice, Minister of both Parks and Environment Canada. “The Olympic Torch Relay provides a wonderful opportunity for Canadians to celebrate and learn about their country’s history and spectacular natural environment.”
Learn more about the celebrations happening on the torch's path around Canada in an article from CG's November Travel issue.
