Canoe
A long, thin boat that narrows at either end and is operated by paddles. Aboriginals used birchbark and animal skin to make their canoes.

Irish settlers >> After a potato famine spread through Ireland in the 1840s, large numbers of Irish settlers arrived in Canada. Many of them helped build Canada’s transportation infrastructure, such as the Rideau Canal and Canadian Pacific Railway.
